One still would need to learn redstone though since Botania is a technical mod and if something is grindy to get through or use then it's a clear sign you need to automate it with redstone and functional flowers from botania. For mana gen the first stage is yes endoflames, skip hydroangeas they're even less useful than dayblooms.
