Marlin 39a serial number dates.

I have an older model 39A with a strange v shaped flip up rear sight. It looks like a poorly stamped serial number, starting with the letter "C" and about 4 or 5 digits. It has a small "JM" in an oval stamped on the right side of the barrel. The stock is plain. The rust primarily extends from a couple inches past the forend to the muzzle.
