As long as you have a lava source block (not flowing) above the block with the pointed dripstone, and a cauldron below, it should fill it. You can then fill a bucket and let it continue. You can tile it as much as you want, but each one has to be a source.

However, on my java world, I have the same setup but the cauldrons are taking loads more time to fill up and none have filled up yet.XD.
