The reasons you go Dex for this is pretty simple. You don't need Dual Wielder for your weapons if TWF. Saves you a Feat when you are already getting taxed one for multiclassing. Strength is a way better dump stat than Dex. Dex gives you AC and Initiative, Dex saves are more common, and Dex touches more skills.
