Don't forget to pay attention to the chamber. I agree that you should start with good barrel, but the chamber is equally as important. I bought a 10/22 Shilen barrel a couple of years ago and the chamber was long. You could drop a round in the chamber and the bullet wouldn't engrave the rifleing lands. It was quite sloppy to be honest about it.Neither of those were nearly as accurate/consistent as the .920" Shilen. Minute of squirrel, yes, but not for the best 5-shot groups at 50 yards. I've heard that Shilen .920" barrels have a tighter chamber than their sporter contour barrels, but I'm not certain about that.
